Ahmad Faisol Gontor skip to main | skip to sidebar Monday, April 2, 2007 Pondok Modern Gontor Sejarah Pondok Gontor didirikan pada 10 April 1926 di Ponorogo, Jawa Timur oleh tiga bersaudara putra Kiai Santoso Anom Besari. Tiga bersaudara ini adalah KH Zainudin Fananie, KH Imam Imam Zarkasyi, dan KH Ahmad Sahal yang kemudian dikenal dengan istilah Trimurti. Pada masa itu pesantren ditempatkan diluar garis modernisasi, dimana para santri pesantren oleh masyarakat dianggap pintar soal agama tetapi buta akan pengetahuan umum. Trimurti kemudian menerapkan format baru dan mendirikan pondok gontor dengan mempertahankan sebagian tradisi pesantren salaf dan mengubah metode pengajaran pesantren yang menggunakan sistem wetonan (massal) dan sorogan (individu) diganti dengan sistem klasik seperti sekolah umum.
