Το μεσημέρι της Παρασκευής 28 Ιουνίου το Δασαρχείο Έδεσσας ενημέρωσε τον ΑΡΚΤΟΥΡΟ ότι είχε εντοπιστεί μία παγιδευμένη αρκούδα. Η Ομάδα Άμεσης Επέμβασης (ΟΑΕ) μετέβη στο σημείο όπου πράγματι διαπίστωσε ότι το άτυχο ζώο είχε πιαστεί σε παγίδα από συρματόσχοινο. Η αρκούδα είχε παγιδευτεί από τον κορμό και στην προσπάθειά της να απεγκλωβιστεί είχε τραυματιστεί σε αρκετά σημεία του σώματός της. Η ΟΑΕ του ΑΡΚΤΟΥΡΟΥ, με την παρουσία του Δασαρχείου, της Αστυνομίας και Ομοσπονδιακού Θηροφύλακα της ΣΤ ΚΟΜΑΘ, έστησε επιχείρηση διάσωσης του Ερμή, όπως ονομάστηκε, ο οποίος ήταν παγιδευμένος ήδη για αρκετές ώρες.
