Posisinya yang berada di barat daya Jawa Timur membuat Pacitan tenggelam. Terlebih jalan menuju kesana sempit dan bukan jalur utama lintas Jawa. Sehingga Pacitan tenggelam menjadi daerah yang asing. Padahal, dari Yogyakarta dapat ditempuh hanya sekitar 2 jam lewat Wonosari, Gunungkidul. Rencana pembangunan Jalan lintas selatan selatan Pulau Jawa yang akan me;ewati Pacitan, membuat kota ini mulai dilirik. Berikut foto-foto Kota Pacitan tempo dulu.
