Bob Breck's Blog Thursday, August 15, 2024 Breck Is Back, Ernesto Batters Bermuda, Another East Coast Trough I had a lovely 3 days in Atlanta where the highs were around 90 BUT the dew points were in the lower 60s. That gave the air/heat a different feel. Can't wait for October! A salute to our good friends Phyliss & Stanley who were terrific hosts. Let's see, when I left, our local weathercasters were harping about "dangerous heat". Nothing has changed so I won't bore you with more heat hype. It's still August. A tropical wave was approaching the Islands before I left and it has followed the early predictions from the models and made the turn away from the U.S. It did soak the Virgin Islands & Puerto Rico, but now he's getting stronger. The color infrared satellite has an eyewall structure forming around the center and Hurricane Ernesto is taking aim on Bermuda. NHC earlier had indicated Ernesto would become a Cat. 3 storm, but they have backed that down to a Cat 2. ...
