The Byrd Family Blog The Byrd Family Blog Monday, January 13, 2014 Get Set, On Your Mark, GO! This past week Jase had his first Pinewood Derby. I too, had what felt like my first Pinewood Derby. We found out about the derby 3 days before the event. This is par for the course with our boys. Unless something is tattooed onto their foreheads they are not likely to let us know about anything until the day of. In retrospect I should be grateful I at least got a few days notice.  With Jason going back to work after his two month vacation, during which we would have had ample time to construct a derby car, I was left to get the parts needed for the car. Our Jase is an extremely competitive boy. So I made sure to take him to the hobby shop and get all the weights, and fancy axles, and polish, and paint the store had to offer. We found a car that was all ready cut out that was in a shape Jase really liked. I took a picture and sent it to Jason to see if it was possible for him to cut ...
