Argumentele formulate de contestatari sunt două: Tuţea nu are nici o relație biografică cu orașul Timișoara și, mai ales, a colaborat în diferite ipostaze cu Mișcarea Legionară. Protestul începe bine spunând: “Considerăm că numirea unei străzi este unul din gesturile simbolice importante ale unei localități având un rol de identificare și construcție identitară. Imaginea de ansamblu a numelor străzilor orașului formează împreună cu denumirile instituțiilor publice, cu monumentele și celelalte obiecte urbane o configurație fizică, concretă a valorilor noastre”.
