Selama 55 tahun negara ini mencapai kemerdekaan, hanya satu peristiwa hitam berlaku yang sehingga hari ini menjadi titik hitam dalam sejarah negara iaitu Peristiwa 13 Mei 1969. Pergolakan antara kaum, demonstrasi berdarah, pembunuhan dan kerosakan yang diakibatkan oleh Peristiwa 13 Mei 1969 harus menjadi ikhtibar dan pengajaran kepada generasi muda hari ini. Persoalannya, kenapa dan mengapa negara yang aman damai ini harus dikucar-kacirkan demi kepentingan politik segelintir manusia yang terlalu angkuh dan tamakkan kuasa? Apakah sudah tidak ada jalan rundingan atau muzakarah yang boleh mempertemukan pihak-pihak yang terlibat untuk duduk bersama-sama membincangkan apa jua permasalahan demi kepentingan rakyat keseluruhannya.
