You can help with delivering, and caring for moms and babies, treat life threatening diseases in the Intensive Care Unit or help treat medical and surgical problems. There are so many areas and possibilities. You never have to be bored. To change areas you do have to retrain and learn new skills, however it can be done relatively easily. I love the Intensive Care Unit setting. Patients are critically ill and you are making decisions minute by minute. It is very exciting and rewording. The other big advantage to nursing is three 12 hour shifts per week. That means that you have 4 days off per week or you can earn overtime.
