Late this afternoon, on the way home from a day spent working in another county, I stopped by the Children’s Holocaust Memorial in Whitwell, Tennessee. The temperature was about 75 degrees. I stood in the boxcar for a long while, alone and without interruption, lost in thought and emotion. In the distance I could hear the voices of children.
