I left academia several years ago — I think A* had just turned 1. For the most part, I don’t regret the choice. Occasionally I do – mostly because I miss the intellectual curiosity of colleagues (it is there in industry but not in all companies or teams). And, I don’t like admitting it but I miss the status/pedigree of academia. Hubby’s still very much embedded in academia — he got tenure a year or two ago and I don’t see him leaving.
