Curentul pare să fie stimulat de noile încercări de apologetică creștină și de temerile multora că hegemonia științei nu mai lasă niciun loc la masa adevărului pentru cunoașterea religioasă. Mariajul cu știința pare un efort de reabilitare a religiosului care se scufundă în pietisme sau misticisme postmoderne centrate pe experiența emoțională. Aici își găsesc locul cei care vor să dovedească adevărul Bibliei cu ajutorul descoperirilor științifice sau să apere un adevăr pretins absolut cu ajutorul unor rezultate obiective livrate de cercetarea academică.
