Saturday, January 3, 2009 Maverick starring Mel Gibson Sure, he's a radical Catholic evangelist, but I gotta give it up to Mel Gibson. Maverick is one of the greatest movies of my time. (By the way, Maverick is probably Sarah Palin's favorite movie.) Action. Adventure. No possibility of ever seeing Jodie Foster's boobs or even a side boob. But I love how James Garner plays a guy named Marshal Zane Cooper. That is just a great name. Zane. And then I love the poker scenes on the riverboat. I bet it was fun living in those times and cruising down the river in a gambling boat. Wild west laws were the best. And I love the ways that some of those guys cheated at poker.
