Colui che entra in sé e penetrandovi si trascende, sale veramente verso Dio. L’anima quando è distratta, è simile all’occhio del corpo che vede tutto, ma non vede se stesso. Perchè aspiri a cose tanto grandi, quando sei tanto piccolo? Considera realmente fin dove possono arrivare le tue forze. Mentre gli spiriti angelici conoscono soltanto nella loro interiorità e gli animali soltanto rivolgendosi verso l’esterno, nell’uomo esistono entrambe queste possibilità di apertura conoscitiva. Il compimento perfetto del sapere si realizza nella meditazione. Il desiderio è simile ad una una corsa perchè è sottoposto alla mutabilità propria del movimento...
