Recuerdo que hace más de 10 años, cuando salió la película de Jorge Fons, hubo gente indignada porque se estaba mostrando al mundo la parte más infame de México. Nadie se dio cuenta en aquel entonces que la historia (toda) era originalmente egipcia, el trabajo de Vicente Leñero fue exclusivamente de adaptación, el guión se apega fielmente a la novela; insisto, se cambiaron los nombres propios. ¿Qué tan perenne es el callejón de los milagros? No sólo la historia, el Callejón de Midaq, se dice al inicio de la novela, existe seguramente desde tiempos inmemoriales.
