A couple weeks ago, we accompanied a street-corner fruit vendor, Rosa, to purchase her wares in Lima’s central fruit market (see Adele’s blog post ). The experience left us eager to learn where the fruit in that market comes from and how it gets there. I recently returned from a trip to Peru’s North Coast region, where a large amount of the country's fruit is produced. The expansive fruit plantations are centered around the noisy, bustling city of Sullana, in the middle of the desert. Each of those mototaxis makes the same noise as a small motorcycle and will not stop for pedestrians. On the bright side, there is no shortage of corner juice stands in Sullana.
