To be fair it’s not even got to the point where someone COULD answer the phone, as the last 23 times I’ve called I’ve actually got through to the automated menu about 4 times, each time it’s told me “We at the DWP treat people with respect and kindness” and THEN rung off, which is a little rude. Anyway, this was my Facebook status this morning: I’m currently on Statutory Sick Pay. The way it works is you’re on full pay for the first half of your SSP and then you go onto half pay for the second half before your SSP runs out entirely. I’ve been on half-pay since August.
