Fair Use Repository: canonical citation for a webbed world Fair Use Repository canonical citation for a webbed world The Fair Use Repository at fair-use.org is an effort to allow for easy citation of documents online. We compile, and (where necessary) transcribe electronic copies of (1) documents in the public domain, and (2) the portions of documents cited in fair use by participating researchers. We are working to make citation easy for human researchers and readers to use, and to encourage, by example, best practices in using semantic HTML to mark up the passages of printed documents that we transcribe.
