The "I Don't Care" tactic. When I was a kid of 7 or 8, my mother taught me to be very polite and not to be "pushy." So, I became quite shy. One example of this was when I visited my cousin Charlie's home. His mother, my aunt Hattie, made wonderful peanut butter filled dates. I could eat them for hours if I could get my hands on them. Hattie would ask me: "Joe, would you like a filled date?"
