Ομιλίες Δεν μπορούμε να μιλάμε για θέατρο στη Ζάκυνθο, χωρίς να αναφερθούμε στις «ομιλίες». « Οι 'ομιλίες' είναι ιδιότυπο λαϊκό θέατρο που αναπτύχθηκε το 17ο και 18ο αιώνα με την επίδραση του Κρητικού Θεάτρου και της Comedia dell' arte. Τελικά δημιουργήθηκαν 'ομιλίες' ζακυνθινές. Η ζακυνθινή δημιουργία απαλλάχτηκε τελείως από την κρητική επίδραση. Η παράδοση καλύπτει όλο το 19ο αιώνα. Οι Ζακυνθινοί όμιλοι συνεχίζουν να παίζουν διασκευασμένα τα κρητικά έργα, τα έργα του παλιότερου και του σημερινού ζακυνθινού λαϊκού θεάτρου. Στις 'ομιλίες' παίζουν αποκλειστικά άντρες ηθοποιοί, που υποδύονται και τους γυναικείους ρόλους, φορώντας μάσκες. Το κείμενο είναι δεκαπεντασύλλαβος στίχος που απαγγέλλεται με μακρόσυρτη προφορά .» Λαϊκοί όμιλοι από την πόλη, και κυρίως από τα χωριά, συνεχίζουν αυθεντική την παράδοση των 'ομιλιών' και στον 21ο αιώνα, γράφοντας και παριστάνοντας 'ομι...
