Recordemos que en Europa no hay pena de muerte. Un prominente político italiano se pronunció a favor de que se considerara cambiar la pena a una de prisión perpetua. Amnistía Internacional criticó también la condena y concurre con la idea de mantenerlo con vida para que responda por otras atrocidades.
