Si racconta che secoli fa, durante una carestia, venissero venduti gli ex-voto donati dai credenti che avevano ottenuto una grazia dalla Madonna del Fuoco e che con il ricavato si comprassero gli ingredienti necessari per produrre un pane dolce destinato ai bisognosi affinché potessero superare il periodo di carestia. Fu così che nacque questa ricetta, che nel tempo è diventata uno dei simboli della festa patronale.
