For those who haven’t seen it, it’s a video of a young man pretending to be a 15 year old boy meeting up with girls 12,13, and 14. With the parents support, the young man organises a meeting place for each of the girls including a local park, the front door once everyone in the house has fallen asleep, and in a van pretending the older brother is going to pick her up. WOW! Hopefully not all teenagers are this naive. I think this would be extremely important for students in the middle years to see, and similar to how we learned about drugs and alcohol, maybe scare tactics is one method that would prove useful to teaching students about how dangerous social media can be.
