Some have to pass the exam before they can take grade 6, others need it before enrolling on a course of higher study, and a small number want to  improve their knowledge to support their musical development and understanding of the pieces they play. The best way to learn is with a teacher and get regular feedback on your work, but to support this there is a place for technology with a growing range of websites designed to build skills.
