Русско-турецкая война 1877-78гг. изобилует яркими событиями: переправа через Дунай, оборона Шипки, осада Плевны, оборона Баязета, осада Карса и прочие. Поэтому желание создать фигурки на этот период появилось давно. Останавливало только почти полное отсутствие информации о том, как выглядели противостоящие армии. Картины некоторых художников, посвященные этой теме, не могут создать целостного впечатления. Ситуация изменилась, когда в прошлом году в фонде "Русские Витязи" вышла книга В.В. Глазкова в 4-томах, посвященная униформе русской армии в царствование Александра II. Два последних тома непосредственно касались нашей темы.
