Perché costui è stato un uomo inafferrabile, dalle mille storie, di cui non si distingueva la realtà dalla fantasia. Ma mi piace pensare che quelle raccontate dall’uomo al figlio su un letto di ospedale fossero realtà, anche se raccontate con la scrittura poetica di Riccarelli. I personaggi di questa narrazione, però, non si limitano al padre “Maestro di nodi e signore degli imbrogli”. Si parte dalla nonna, che si innamora del capomastro, che la lascerà sola a causa di una misteriosa malattia. E allora la nonna, che era poco più di una bambina vedova, finisce col trasferirsi a casa dei due cognati, i fratelli del marito, uno più strano dell’altro. Se uno si dedicava alla costruzione di macchinari senza una specifica funzione, l’altro...
