It’s one that I’ve not previously seen, well not up close that is. What’s moving about this statue is that it’s not of a tank, it’s of the group of soldiers who were a tank crew, colloquially called ‘tankies’, a word which I learned about from the BBC’s Mark Urban in his BBC programme Tankies: Tank Heroes of World War II .
