Oct. 30, 2023 15:08 EDT note to readers (update) Here’s a quick update on the situation with the expensive MacBook Pro that failed suddenly and completely less than 30 days after buying it from Apple, which also killed all access to its large SSD (soldered and integrated into the motherboard): After I had to purchase a replacement computer and external storage, Apple finally returned the defective computer three weeks and three days after taking it at an Apple Store, refusing to either refund my money or supply a replacement computer in the meantime, in spite of all my efforts at multiple levels. The repair note said the motherboard and Touch ID had been replaced. I discovered that the replacement motherboard was used , not new, but the laptop is at least functional again. I app...
