Bis es soweit ist, kann der Fluss auf seinem Weg eine Menge Unheil anrichten, was er zum Beispiel am 26. Dezember 2015 tat, als er eine Brücke in der Bierbrauerstadt Tadcaster zum Einsturz brachte (siehe dazu meinen Blogeintrag ). Besonders gefährlich ist der River Wharfe in der Nähe von Bolton Abbey , wenn er sich von rund 27 Meter Breite auf zwei Meter verengt.
