Secara administrasi wilayah ini berada di Kabupaten Tojo Una-Una. Kepulauan Togean memiliki persentase penutupan karang yang tinggi, terlihat dari besarnya nilai persentase penutupan karang keras yang diamati oleh para peneliti. Dari beberapa stasiun yang diamati, persentase penutuan karang keras berada dalam kisaran nilai 32,78-74,74%. Nilai ini menunjukkan terumbu karang dalam kondisi dalam kategori sedang sampai dengan bagus.
