Πήγαινα να επισκεφθώ το μέρος που άφησε την τελευταία του πνοή, ο Neal Cassady. Είχα μάθει ότι ο Ferlinghetti με κάποιο τρόπο και μάλλον μέσω του Fuentes, είχε αποκτήσει δύο ποιήματα του Cortázar που λεγόταν ότι αν τα διαβάσεις, μετά όποια γυναίκα ποθείς, σε ερωτεύεται. Λειτουργούσαν σαν μαγικό ερωτικό φίλτρο. Ο Ferlinghetti τα προσέφερε στον Cassady με αντάλλαγμα ένα πήδημα και τα είχε πλέον ο ένας από τους γιους του τελευταίου. Το μόνο που δεν βρήκα στο Μεξικό ήταν το που πέθανε ο Cassady ή το σπίτι του ή το γιο του ή τα ποιήματα, αλλά βρήκα -παραδόξως- τον Pynchon.
