I’ve been summoned twice for the noble task of jury duty. The first time, I asked to be excused because the timing was completely inconvenient. The second time, I went in. It was late November. Everyone told me the likelihood of actually being chosen was low. I figured I’d just get out of work for a day, hang out at the Oakland courthouse, and hopefully get some reading done. Right? After watching an incredibly lame dvd about how wonderful jury duty is, my name was called. I was herded with 125 other potential jurors to the courtroom. The judge explained that this was a murder trial. He wanted us to fill out a questionnaire and then return two days later. Ok… interesting.
