外断熱住宅はシロアリのリスクが高い？｜外断熱の豆知識 外断熱住宅はシロアリのリスクが高い？ 外断熱住宅はシロアリのリスクが高い？ 外断熱住宅は建物の外側を断熱材で覆う工法で、外気の寒暖から守られると同時に大きな熱容量によって建物の温度変動が小さくなり室温が快適な環境に保たれます。 それによって室内に結露が発生せずカビやダニの被害が抑えられる以外にも、耐久性が高く冷暖房の効率が上がりさらには冬に起きる室内と廊下の気温差によって起きる、ヒートショック現象が起こりにくいです。 そのためリフォームをする際に外断熱を選ぶ人が増えていますが、ただし実際に行う前に一つだけ注意点があります。 それは外断熱住宅はシロアリのリスクが高いと言われることです。 なぜシロアリのリスクが高いと言われるのは、それはシロアリの生態が関係しています。 シロアリは高温多湿を好む虫で5月から9月にかけて行動を起こしますが、それ以外の寒くなる時期は一定の温度である土の中もしくは土を盛った中の住処の中で過ごします。 つまり冬は全く問題ないはずのシロアリの被害ですが、外断熱住宅は建物の外側を断熱材で覆う工法で土の中にも当然ながら材質を埋め込みます。 土の中にも材質を埋め込むということは、材質が埋め込まれた場所は冬でも高い温度を維持していることになります。 そのため冬の間でもシロアリにとっては活動しやすい空間となるため、しっかりと住宅周辺の湿度や水気を含んだ材木がある場合には注意が必要となります。 外断熱・基礎断熱の住宅でシロアリが発生した場合 外断熱は家の外側を断熱材で覆う形になるため、家の中を暖かくする上では効果が非常に高いです。 しかし外断熱や基礎断熱を実施した場合、その断熱材を通り抜けて住宅内部にシロアリが発生し、場合によっては知らず知らずのうちに住宅内部の梁や柱などを食い散らかされてしまい、倒壊の危険が発生することも多いです。 断熱材は基本的にウレタンフォームや発泡スチロールといった柔らかい素材を用いるため、シロアリが食い散らかして侵入しやすい傾向があります。 特に建物の基礎の部分の外断熱を行うと床下空間部分が暗くて無風状態となるため、シロアリが住み付きやすい適した環境となります。 そのためシロアリが発生した場合は、その侵入ルートを防ぎ床下空間に潜り、その巣自体を破壊する必要が...
