Boardman) 9 Απρ 2010 H Κιβωτός και το Έθνος (the end) «Τα μάρμαρα καλούν τα μάρμαρα»: ή «I want back my marbles!» Η διεκδίκηση των ελγινείων / παρθενώνειων μαρμάρων από τους σημερινούς κατόχους τους με σκοπό την επανένωση όλων των μερών του μνημείου αποτελεί έναν από τους κυριότερους και πλέον διακηρυγμένους σκοπούς του νέου μουσείου. Η ρητορική των εγκαινίων, οι επίσημες τοποθετήσεις και ο ποικιλόμορφος δημοσιογραφικός σχολιασμός τους, αλλά και η υποδοχή που επεφύλαξαν στο νέο μουσείο τα διεθνή Μ.Μ.Ε. συντείνουν στο να ταυτιστεί ουσιαστικά το μουσείο με την εκστρατεία διεκδίκησης των μαρμάρων. Η εμμονή αυτή στην αντιμετώπιση του νέου μουσείου τελικά αδικεί την προσπάθεια που έχει καταβληθεί για την ανέγερση και λειτουργία του, εξηγώντας βέβαια και πολλές από τις αδυναμίες του.
