And the sound does indeed play a prominent (if not the central) role in this movie. Except for a relatively brief Marienbadian dialogue halfway into the film, most of its screentime is devoted - audiowise - to a dense (micro)polyphony of disembodied voices and other aural incidents: footsteps, passing trams, cars and skateboards, rolled bottles and spilled drinks, wind rustling through hair and notebook pages, diegetic music, etc. (Many of these sounds are acousmatic, i.e. detached from their visible sources).
