In fact I can count on half a hand the few occasions that we went away anywhere other than a couple of nights in my Nin and grandad’s caravan near Southport. My parents divorced when I was young anyway, altering the make-up of the family unit. After my grandad passed away in the mid-80s, the caravan was sent for scrap.
