As well as in college on a Monday, I also teach in four different centres across the city in classrooms rented from amazing community partners. These centres are hubs of learning and of community support – one of them, for instance, offers a nursery, a food bank, fitness classes, English, maths and ESOL, craft sessions, a conversation cafe for elderly people and probably a whole bunch of stuff I don’t know, while another includes employability skills lessons, parent support groups, wellbeing, cycling and baby clinics (right next door to my classroom, which is adorable).
