I summarised my views on MANOVA based largely on that section on my other blog: http://psychologicalstatistics.blogspot.com/2021/08/i-will-not-ever-never-run-manova.html . It also references a recent paper on MANOVA and alternatives to MANOVA that is worth reading. In addition I’d refer readers to the multivariate regression options in the R package brms: http://cran.r-project.org/web/packages/brms/vignettes/brms_multivariate.html . This isn’t covered in Serious Stats (indeed brms didn’t exist at that time) but would definitely be added if I was writing it now.
