It’s a selection that’s a bit outside of the norm, but I’m here for it. Streep is one of my favorite modern-day actresses, and I think her inclusion is an excellent idea as the needle for what constitutes a “classic” continues to move. Some of the outstanding features airing on Streep Day include Kramer vs. Kramer (1979), which focuses on a divorced couple’s battle for custody of their son; Sophie’s Choice (1982), where Streep plays the title role of a survivor of the Holocaust; and Silkwood (1984), based on the real-life story of Karen Silkwood, who investigated safety practices at the nuclear power plant where she worked. ...
