Sang ayah bernama Dick dan si anak bernama Rick. Dick dan Rick Hoyt adalah ayah dan anak, sekaligus salah satu tim yang ikut serta dalam sebuah pertandingan triathlon yaitu semacam marathon dengan rupa-rupa olah raga seperti lari yang berjarak 26,2 mil, ditambah bersepeda sejauh 112 mil, serta berenang 2,4 mil. Belum lagi mereka harus mendaki gunung dan lain sebagainya. Total keseluruhannya sekitar 3,735 mil.
