Kitchy as they may be, I loved these blue glass ornaments meant to ward away evil eyes. Here is a store full of them and the shopkeeper. The sketch below captures a moment when I heard deep sighs from a side street and stepped in to find a bunch of men smoking hookahs and watching a football match. Turkey lost to Portugal, so the audience wasn’t happy. That didn’t stop the hookahs from being refilled with hot coals and rounds of hot tea being served.
