I have no idea who Alice Austen is (it looks like a pseudonym?) and if this is her first published novel, but it had no trouble grabbing my attention. 33 Place Brugmann is an address in central Brussels, a real bourgeois 5 storey high building in reddish bricks (you can search for it on Google maps).
