Paddling the Lower Mississippi River skip to main | skip to sidebar Paddling the Lower Mississippi River I'm a Chicago high school Biology teacher who paddled a sea kayak from St. Louis to New Orleans to research nutrient pollution in the Lower Mississippi River and develop a river ecology unit for my students. I was part of a team along with my wife, Sarah (she's a Chicago teacher too) and kayak enthusiast, Patrick Hanlon, who works as an environmental inspector for the city of Minneapolis.
