The third assistant director has a very important job profile. We do things like tell the actors ‘Your shot is ready’ or tell costume ‘Iron the clothes now’ or tell the guy running the electricity in the godown ‘AC switch off karna’. It’s a hard life up the ladder. This was an ad for an AC brand. The brand, because they had no sense of what the honest fuck they wanted had dispatched me off to Himachal Pradesh to recce. The idea was (surprise, surprise) the AC transports you to snowfall.
