Latest Lamu, with (O’Brien-)Beardsleys This wasn’t so long ago, but was TOO long ago.  It felt like the type of trip that should be made as often as possible.  Put on the rotation. Cate, Jon, Reid and I left life behind and took a long weekend in Lamu.  Nothing is quite so decadent as hiring a sub, cashing in a personal day, leaving kids with grandparents to juggle school and practice and homework (thank you, Jesus, for fun and willing grandparents!) and climbing on a plane with friends– island bound. This was my first time to visit the island of Lamu.  It transported us back to the very familiar Swahili Island Culture that is now tightly woven into our personal fabric (but with a Kenyan flavor that is quite different from Zanzibar.)
