Now all of a sudden, we are in a world where people cheer for Donald Trump even as his trade policies destroy their jobs,  or cheer for Brexit as it threatens to obliterate their livelihoods,  or doubt climate change even as they either roast in overpowering heat or freeze in a roaring polar vortex liberated from our broken North Pole.
