Нови Орлеан, Голямото Леко В пет и половина сутринта Брендън ме събуди в колибата и каза, че в съседния щат, Арканзас, върлуват торнада и има загинали. Бурята вървяла към нас. На всеки 10 минути с едно пронизително бръмчене спътникът ми получаваше известия по телефона за развитието на бурята. В този момент колибите ми се видяха като сламени къщички. Много неприятно чувство - безсилие, и избор между фатализъм и бягство. Безсмислени са усилията да направиш нещо в това безкрайно поле. Решихме да тръгнем веднага на югоизток, встрани и напред от пътеката на торнадата. Бурята носеше и град "с размер на топки за голф", което би било съсипващо за колата. Минахме отново през града; този път го гледах с други очи - ще ги има ли тези къщи след няколко часа? Торнадата режат много тесни протоци, но не знаеш дали този път твоето градче няма да изтегли лошия късмет. Карахме бързо, гонени от обл...
