I thought I might pick one and tell you a bit more about it or……maybe even weave a story about it. This week’s choice is an interior door in a beautiful gilded environment where its lavish red-velvet swagging provides a delightful contrast. Here’s a picture of the room – seriously bling! You’ll find all this opulence in Genoa’s Palazzo Reale whose construction commenced in 1618 for the Balbi Family, Lords of Genoa. From 1643 to 1655, work renewed under the direction of the architects Pier Francesco Cantone and Michele Moncino.
