Without my glasses on, the shadowed folds in the hills look like brown velvet. The scene is softened and still…almost as if I’m looking at a painting. The sky is a beautiful early Autumn blue on this first day of September. The setting sun is just beginning to turn the cotton candy clouds into shades of pink and lavender and white. This was not the scenery I had hoped to see out of my window. Various circumstances outside of my control have led my life in a different direction.
