Image May 5, 2014 WildThingFlyFishing Leave a comment Ready….Steady….Go! With the river out of sorts, it gave me the chance to load new lines this week and get a few flies tied. Wednesday’s trip out on the Avon saw dirty but dropping water so I opted to forget it was nearly May, put away my trout rod and take out the double-hander in the hope of bumping into an elusive springer pushing up-river on the high water. The 3 inch copper tube still didn’t fish very deep despite the fast sinking multi-tip line and the exercise was worthwhile even if the results were poor! Let’s hope this week brings a continuation of some dry and warm conditions. There are still a few grannoms about and we should be seeing some Hawthorne flies any day.
