It’s a strange feeling. It’s the first time in over a decade that I’ve spent New Years alone. Holidays are all about family and friends and celebrating. New Years is about remembering the good and bad of the past year and welcoming a new start in the year to come. When I think back on this past year, I remember my son’s many first. His first tooth, the first time he said Dadda, the first Christmas present he was able to open by himself. I remember my daughter crawling into my lap to fall asleep, the many times she told me she loves me, her sneaking makeup to school. Knowing that these times won’t last, I have tried to take advantage of them. To hold onto them as best as I can. But memories fade and one day, these will too...
